Berlin, July 13, 2024 – In an extraordinary collaboration,
Be an Angel e.V.,
barthouse and
GRAFT Architekten are bringing an impressive photo exhibition to Berlin. From July 13 to 19, 2024, art lovers can admire and purchase 79 outstanding original works by internationally renowned photographers such as
Arthur Elgort, David Drebin, Paola Kudacki and many more at the GRAFT Architekten premises – and even do something good at the same time.
A tribute to beauty
Under the motto “Dream Men / Dream Women”, the exhibition shows works from the renowned Deichtorhallen exhibitions “Dream Women – Star Photographers Show Their Vision of Beauty” (2008) and “Dream Men – Star Photographers Show Their Vision of the Ideal” (2011). These exhibitions, curated by Nadine Barth and Ingo Taubhorn, reflect the diverse and subjective nature of beauty and ideals in the 21st century.
Art meets architecture
The choice of venue, the premises of GRAFT Architekten, underlines the symbiosis of art and architecture. “We have many years of exchange and support in common with Be an Angel, as well as a shared love of beauty,” says
Lars Krückeberg from GRAFT Architekten. “As architects who have always been active in crisis areas, it is natural for us to support the people in Ukraine. We hope that the proceeds from the exhibition will be correspondingly high.”
A unique experience
This exhibition not only offers a rare opportunity to acquire high-quality works of art at affordable prices, but also the chance to make a contribution to a good cause. Each work is an original copy that has been personally supervised and hand-framed in the artists’ studios or laboratories. All proceeds from the exhibition will go to Be an Angel e.V., the multi-award-winning association that has been working to integrate people with refugee experience since 2015 and has evacuated over 23,000 people since the start of the Ukraine crisis.
Voices of the exhibition
Dr. h.c. Andreas Tölke, founder of Be an Angel e.V., emphasizes the important role of the architecture and art scene: “We have received continuous support from the contemporary architecture and art scene in particular for nine years now. Not only GRAFT Architekten has been a loyal companion, but I would also like to make special mention of Nadine Barth, whose tireless commitment and inspiring ideas have surprised us time and again with her impressive initiatives since the association was founded.”
Nadine Barth, curator of the exhibition, adds: “After photography exhibitions, the prints are usually destroyed. I wanted something different for the Dream Men/Dream Women collection: I wanted to give the works a second life. An idea that immediately met with enthusiastic approval from many photographers.”
