Invitation to the Signing of the City Partnership and Exhibition Opening

From lived solidarity to an official bond: On May 22, we will celebrate the signing of the city partnership between Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and the Ukrainian district of Kyiv-Darnytsia — a special milestone that Be an Angel e.V., as the coordination office of this partnership, is actively shaping and supporting. The ceremonial signing will take place in the presence of the district mayor of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Clara Herrmann.

The district of Darnytsia in eastern Kyiv is currently home to around 350,000 people. Since the beginning of the war, approximately 120,000 displaced persons from other parts of Ukraine have also found refuge there.

Starting at 6:30 PM, we warmly invite you to the restaurant Kreuzberger Himmel, where we will open the exhibition “Darnytsia” by award-winning OSTKREUZ photographer Johanna-Maria Fritz, who powerfully documents the lives of people in our new partner district during the war.

Be an Angel e.V. brings the civil society dimension of this city partnership to life in a meaningful way. Since its founding in 2015, the association has made a local and international impact through a wide range of initiatives and projects. Coordination and project leadership are carried out in close cooperation with the district authorities.
