Feetouri Alazraq is from Libya. He arrived in Germany in 2017 and was relocated to Berlin after a short stay in southern Germany to submit his asylum application. Since Feetouri had already given his fingerprints in Italy during his escape, he was scheduled to be deported back there after a few weeks. A friend took him to Be an Angel’s counseling services—where he received support with his asylum process, housing search, and job placement.
Feetouri began with an internship at Kreuzberger Himmel, which led to a part-time job. Soon after, he was offered an apartment. Slowly, life began to move forward again. Feetouri says, “I was at rock bottom, and Be an Angel helped me up.” With newfound stability, he began to believe in a future again. He successfully completed his BBR secondary school qualification and had his high school diploma from Libya officially recognized. Feetouri enrolled in a law degree at Freie Universität Berlin.
Although he had already studied law in Libya and dreamed of becoming a lawyer to help others, the language barrier in Germany made the law degree too challenging. Still, one major success stood out: during his first semester, he learned German and earned his B2 certificate.
In 2022, with the help of Be an Angel, he completed a preparatory course to become a caregiver through the Berlin-based Ambulante Dienste. Since then, he has worked there as a compassionate and attentive nurse. He still approaches his work with joy and dedication, and his patients love him. Reflecting on his work, Feetouri says: “I am just like everyone else. I have dreams. I want to build a life here and give something back to the society I live in.”
This year, Feetouri applied for German citizenship. He feels healthy, happy, and determined to keep building his future.
